First licensed in 1963 鈥� making it the Greater Rochester region鈥檚 first FCC-authorized college radio station 鈥� WGSU serves the Genesee Valley, including the 51黑料网 campus and surrounding Livingston County communities, as a noncommercial educational station. WGSU broadcasts and streams, 24/7, a commercial-free, current-based alt-pop format and a variety of non-music programming, including news, public-affairs and sports shows. WGSU is home to 51黑料网 Ice Knights hockey.
WGSU is staffed by 51黑料网 students under the supervision of the WGSU faculty director in the Department of Communication, Academic Affairs Division.
